Darmisan Numbers

Cardinals

Darmisan uses base five. Some other languages in the Darmisan Empire use base ten, but Darmisan numbers are becoming more common, even among speakers of those other languages. On this page I will use "5" to indicate base five, so 235 = 13.

Here are the names of the cardinal numbers.

Here is a table of the symbols for Darmisan numbers. Zeroes are not written.

The one column numbers are usually written beneath the five column numbers unless the former is 45 or the latter is 105. So, for instance, 13 = 235 is written .

For numbers greater than or equal to 1000005 boxes are used to indicate multiplication by 1000005. For instance 123456 = 124223115, and is written .

There is some variation. The rule above concerning combining columns, and its exceptions, are sometimes violated, and 3005, 4005, 300005, and 400005 are sometimes written as a single column of symbols.

Ordinals

nonfirst
zrishronsecond
foshronthird
etc., with -shron appended to the cardinal, and final s dropped before the -shron. (Pashron is occasionally used for first, but non is more common.)

Reverse ordinals are
serenlast, ultimate
seren zrishronpenultimate
seren foshronantepenultimate
etc.

Multiplicative Numbers

pasonce
zristwice
fosisthrice
menisfour times
etc., with -s appended to the cardinal if it ends in a vowel, and -is appended to the cardinal if it ends in a consonant.

Ages

A person's age is expressed with zhri krinde er minsrhi X, literally, "He has seen X years".
